Blog Information

Hello, my name is Rhonan, I am 17 years old and I am a huge Formula One fan. I have been watching Formula One since 2008. I started to make reports on the race weekends in 2014 but never published them. I am also a big fan of the British Touring Cars and Formula E championships.

This blog has been going on since June 2015 and the interest for the blog is growing. I went to the British GP in 2010 and I’ve also been numerous times to Knockhill Racing Circuit to see the British Touring Cars in action. In 2016 and 2017, I went  to the Ignition Festival of Motoring event. I also enjoy going karting which I have been several times too.

I am also a contributor to Essaar. I have with them since May and have done a total of 5 articles for them since. I will be writing articles and live tweeting about Formula One and Formula E on a race weekend.

My aim is to be a Motorsport Journalist and be able to write about F1, BTCC, Formula E and all other categories in Motorsport for a living.

With Nico Rosberg finishing 2nd that makes it a 7th Mercedes 1 – 2 of the season.

Belgian Race Round 11

Read on as Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes wins the Belgium grand prix.

Lewis Hamilton eases to victory ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg and Romain Grosjean for Lotus in 3rd.

Formation Lap

For the rest of the season the drivers are not permitted talk to their engineers during the formation lap only if there is something wrong with the car. Nico Hulkenberg and Carlos Sainz reported problems with their cars. Hulkenberg stalled on the grid and another formation lap was required, he did not start the race. Sainz came into the pits before the race. He did race but was 2 laps down and retired.

Everyone was eager to test out the new starting procedures and the McLaren’s of Fernando Alonso and Jenson Button got the better start, Nico Rosberg bogged down and was 5th by turn 1 and Lewis Hamilton kept his lead ahead of Sergio Perez, Daniel Ricciardo, Valterri Bottas and Nico Rosberg.

Lap 2 and Rosberg passes Bottas for 4th and Sebastian Vettel follows through. Lap 3, Sainz makes it back out but is already 1 lap down. Lap 4, Pastor Maldonado is slowing after he runs wide at the top of Eau Rouge, he pits the next lap and is out.

Lap 8 and Ricciardo is the first car to pit and he goes onto the Medium tyre as Romain Grosjean passes Bottas for 5th. Perez pits on lap 9 and goes onto the Soft tyre and comes out behind Ricciardo. Lap 10 and Kvyat, Massa, Grosjean and Vestappen pit. Kvyat and Massa goes onto the Medium tyre as Grosjean and Verstappen goes onto the Soft tyre. Lap 12, Perez gets back past Ricciardo.

Rosberg pits on lap 13 for Mediums while Bottas is under investigation for having the wrong tyres on. He has got 3 Medium and 1 Soft tyres on. Race leader, Hamilton pits on lap 14 for Mediums and still leads ahead of Rosberg. Vettel pits on lap 15 for Mediums as Bottas is given a drive through penalty for having the wrong tyres fitted. Bottas takes the penalty the next lap.

Grosjean is flying as he passes Ricciardo on lap 16 then Perez on lap 20. Lap 21, Ricciardo slows to a halt just out of the chicane, that brings out the Virtual Safety Car and Perez pits onto the Medium tyre. Lap 22, Massa, Grosjean and Raikkonen pit and all go onto the Medium tyre. The Virtual Safety Car ends as Ricciardo’s car is cleared by the Marshals.

Kvyat pits on lap 28 for Softs, Hamilton pits on lap 31 for Softs, Rosberg pits on lap 32 for Softs and Vestappen pits on lap 33 for Softs as well. Lap 35, Sainz is 2 laps down and the team decide to save the car and retiring. After pitting on lap 28 the tyres for Kvyat have come alive as he passes Massa then Perez the next lap.

Lap after lap, Grosjean has been catching the one stopping Ferrari of Vettel in 3rd at four tenths a lap. Lap 42 and Grosjean is in DRS range as Vettel’s left rear tyres explodes! Grosjean is gifted 3rd as Vettel coasts back to the pits. Hamilton wins ahead of Rosberg and Grosjean.

After the Race, Vettel is Furious. He was 1 lap away from the finish, managing to hold off Grosjean and the only car to make a 1 stop. Bear in mind on Friday Practise 2, Rosberg had a Left rear tyre failure as well. Vettel blames Pirelli.

I’m so Happy for Grosjean and Lotus as they return to the podium after the finanical trouble so far. Great drives for Kvyat, Perez and Verstappen i thought. I was disappointed by Williams and McLaren. Williams should have had been closer to the podium as McLaren and the upgrade. We have to ask, did McLaren bring an update here, it did not show!

Belgian Qualifying Round 11

Read on as Lewis Hamilton for Mercedes takes pole position ahead of tomorrows race.

Lewis Hamilton takes pole position ahead of team-mate Nico Rosberg and Valterri Bottas.

The unusual blue sky saw a mixed grid with penalties for Romain Grosjean, Max Verstappen, Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso. The Medium and Soft tyres (also known as Prime and Option) are the allocated tyres here. Pirelli have said all the tyres that they have checked are ok to use, this was because of Nico Rosberg’s tyre deflation in Practise 2.

The new start procedures are introduced here which could lead to a chaotic start.

Q1 saw both McLaren Honda cars of Button and Alonso out along with the Manor Marrusia cars of Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi and the Sauber of Felipe Nasr. Max Verstappen reports of a power issue near the end and just scrapes into Q2.

Q2 saw Kimi Raikkonen’s Ferrari break down due to an oil pressure leak with eight minutes and twenty-four seconds to go. Max Verstappen stops in the pit lane and does not set a time. Nico Hulkenberg’s Force India, Daniil Kvyat’s Red Bull and Marcus Ericsson’s Sauber is out. While Rosberg sets the fastest time of 1.47.955.

The first runs in Q3 sees that Hamilton is fastest ahead of Rosberg and Bottas. Everyone is on their final runs and Hamilton is quicker that Rosberg in Sectors 1 and 2, all he needs is a clean final sector and pole will be his. And it is, Hamilton’s on pole. A good run for Grosjean in 4th and Sergio Perez in 5th.

Qualifying Result

1.Hamilton  2.Rosberg  3.Bottas  4.Perez  5.Ricciardo  6.Massa  7.Maldonado  8.Vettel  9.Grosjean*  10.Sainz  11.Hulkenberg  12.Kvyat  13.Ericsson  14.Raikkonen** 15. Nasr  16.Stevens  17.Mehri  18.Verstappen**  19.Button*  20.Alonso*

Grosjean* got a 5 place grid penalty for a gear box change.

Raikkonen** did not set a time in Q2.

Verstappen** did not set a time in Q2 and recieved a 10 place grid penalty for an engine change.

Button* and Alonso* changed nearly all of thier power units and a combined total of 105 grid penalty between them.

A flawless lap by Hamilton scored him a well deserved pole position. A great effort by Bottas, Grosjean and Perez be in the top 5. I felt sorry for Raikkonen as he stopped in Q2, but watch him throughtout the race as he has won he 4 times in the past.

Ferrari retain Raikkonen for 2016

Ferrari are to retain Kimi Raikkonen for 2016 and be Sebastian Vettel’s partner as they decided on Wednesday to keep the 2007 world champion.

Ferrari had been considering whether to drop the finn because of the his recent form in qualifying and in the race. Valterri Bottas looked to be the favourite to replace Raikkonen if Ferrari where to get rid of him but it is likely that Bottas will stay at Williams.

Raikkonen’s best result so far has been 2nd at the Bahrain grand prix where Vettel has won the Malaysian and the Hungarian grand prixs.

Ferrari are currently in 2nd place in the Constructors champion behind Mercedes as they head into the Belgian grand prix.
