McLaren Honda announce that they will keep 2009 World Champion, Jenson Button for 2016 as Romain Grosjean leaves Lotus for Haas.
McLaren Honda has confirmed that they will keep Button after speculation that he might leave the sport after an agonising year as McLaren and Honda rebuild they “famous” relationship.
In McLaren’s statement, there was no word about 2 times World Champion, Fernando Alonso. Alonso had complained about how slow the car was during the Japanese Grand Prix on team radio, which everyone heard. Rumours started spreading that both, Button and Alonso would leave at the end of the season.
Grosjean also announced on the 29th of September that he would leave Lotus for new American team, Haas F1. Grosjean has been with Lotus since 2012. Lotus signed their current driver, Pastor Maldonado shortly after the Singapore Grand Prix for 2016.
Haas is set to enter the sport in 2016. With Grosjean signed, Esteban Gutierrez, former Sauber driver and Ferrari’s reserve driver is expected to have the second seat.
On the 23rd of September, Force India confirmed that Sergio Perez is to stay with the team for next year with Nico Hulkenberg alongside him. Force India have an unchanged lineup for the second year as they had both drivers in 2014, 2015 and now 2016.
Manor Marussia announced today that they would use Mercedes power units from 2016. The team currently have Ferrari engines.
