Most Memorable Moment from 2017

My most memorable moment from 2017 has to be the Ignition Festival. It was second time it was hosted in Glasgow and the second time I’d had attended. As always, there was a great selection of cars, ranging from F1 to Rally.

I was able to get pictures with 3-time BTCC Champion Gordon Shedden, BTCC commentator Paul O’Neil, F1 Journalist and Presenter Lee McKenzie and Rally legend Ari Vatanen. It was amazing to meet them and briefly to talk to them.

Before going, I made sure I had “Blog cards” and my aim was to give one to Lee McKenzie and Paul O’Neil.

A few days later after the event, I posted my review of Ignition. I put out a tweet on Twitter saying that it was now available to be read. I tagged Lee in the tweet and to my surprise, she tweeted back within a few minutes! She then tweeted back saying she remembered me and still had my blog card. She then went onto the blog and read my review of Ignition and left a comment. I then saw a tweet she had put out saying

“f you wondered what was all about then Rhonan’s excellent review sums it up. Great pix and words Rhonan.”

It was and still is an honour and achievement to get motorsport celebs and experts like Lee and Paul to visit the blog. It’s a couple of extraordinary days I will remember forever.

If you haven’t read the 2017 post of the Ignition Festival, here is the link to take you straight to it!

Contributing to Essaar GP

In March, I joined Essaar GP. So far, I have written 6 articles/reports for them. My first article for them was published in May and it was looking at the chances of Renault F1 Driver, Nico Hulkenberg of finally achieving a podium finish. To date, it has received 792 views!

I have done 2 articles on the topic of Formula E and I did my first race report on the first race of Season 4 in Hong Kong. I have also done a number of “live tweets” on Twitter, covering F1 practice sessions across the season.

This is giving me an insight and a huge amount of experience, essentially a stepping stone into what I want to do.

What does 2018 hold?

In 2018, I will be hoping to go back to the Ignition Festival of Motoring and to see the British Touring Cars in action at Knockhill. I will be increasing the amount of Formula E content onto the blog as it’s something I love watching and writing about. I will be covering a couple of BTCC weekends and putting the reviews up on the blog.

A MASSIVE thank-you to everyone who visited and read the blog over the course of 2017. It has been a pleasure to cover and report about F1 and can’t wait to do it all over again in 2018. Thank-you!
